Urban Ascetic

BaltimoreCityCardboard

Urban Ascetic

A soul close to heartbreak.

Vice pandering on the MLK.  (Martin Luther King Expressway)

Economic Reasons.

40 oz to the heathens.

Sun beats down as he paces.

Down and out leathered faces.

Cardboard billboards advertise the story, “I ain’t good

lookin enough to be a stripper”.

The slogan worked.

He’s found a big tipper.

One dollar bill.

One drink on federal hill.

One moment of even keel.

Hard times in the city of charm.

Everyone is up in arms.

A gun shot blazes.

Everyone scatters.

A child yells at the top of her lungs,

“All lives matter”.

The Red Maple

RedMaple

A grand maple tree
stands in the midst of a concrete jungle
Cigarettes to burn
as the world turns
Martinis consumed in the elegance
As well rounded philanthropists
are caught up in the element
Level of intoxicity reached
Current events transition into the irrelevant
Overnight
The DJ spins trance
Spirits blossom in the dance

The Red Maple night club has closed and in the grand finale I stood with the tree.  I closed my eyes while holding the limbs and found a deep meditation.  This tree has heard many of the nights whispers. It has seen young lovers kiss, heard secrets and kept them in the shadows, and watched over the patrons of this fine establishment since its conception.  It was an honor to dance for you…stand with you…let the druid speak as the winds gush.  You are loved.

This is a Song for Baltimore

oneeyedman

I dunno I dunno you I dunno you all that well but I’d like to

Weed pregame at the crib

Drink a lil bit talk a lot of shit

Weed watch YouTube

It’s Jager bombs I guess that’s just the way Jersey do

Weed drive down 95

Got the music on loud

So we know were still alive

One eyed man Illuminated and red

Our guide to inebriation

I am Baltimore born and bred

Yeah I’m a natural Bohemian

I dunno I dunno you I dunno you all that well but I’d like to

Weed stop at the point that feel

Where were off to drink with the middle aged crowd

Two bluebirds slowly walk bye

Reminded me of a girl I knew once upon a time

In Vino Veritas

Would you like to share some sauce

Where weed talk about nothing in particular at all

It’s closing time

The conversation holds

It’s one more drink

Then were out the door

To the corner of

Broadway and fate

To the bench that is

Her sacred place

It’s the drunk girls in the high heels

On the streets that are cobbly

Weed both laugh

As her knees become wobbly

I dunno I dunno you I dunno you all that well but I’d like to

I used to drink just to feel alive

Take a shot jump into the vibe

Took me a while to realize

While she was by my side

It was the only way I could get by

Now its good wine in confidence

Her lips taste like she is fresh off the vine

Her vibes of good love flow

Through my conscientiousness

Its the shades of grey by the candle light

With-in her nakedness I am mesmerized

On a pod of I

It’s Van Morrison

We moon dance in the sheets

Yeah, I’m feel-in this

I dunno I dunno you I dunno you all that well but I’d like to

Her knee gently caresses my thigh

As I awake during the morning twilight

It’s her fingertips across my chest

For one moment of this life I have no stress

As I look up she smiles at me with her eyes

It’s good to see that you’re early to rise

Weed make love one last time

I dunno I dunno you I dunno you all that well but I’d like to
